JM to Supply Hydrogen Purifier to Applied Materials in China

WEST CHESTER, PA, April 30, 2007 Johnson Matthey Gas Purification
Technology (GPT) group, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of highly reliable bulk and point-of-use purifiers, announced today that they have supplied a Model GPT-20 hydrogen purifier to Applied Materials (Nasdaq:AMAT) in China. Sales and service support is handled by JM's distributor in China Gentech International.

The hydrogen purifier will be installed at Applied Materials new Global Development Capability (GDC) center in Xian, China. The center will provide engineering, and software support services to Applied Materials facilities throughout the world helping to extend Applied Materials long-standing leadership in China's expanding semiconductor marketplace.

Johnson Matthey's state-of-the-art bulk hydrogen purifiers are capable of providing 99.9999999 percent pure hydrogen for wafer fabrication and they are the technology of choice for China's silicon and compound semiconductor industry.
